Jaffurs Wine Cellars is dedicated to producing great Rhône varietal wines with a new-world independence. It is one of the newest wineries in Santa Barbara County. Owner/winemaker Craig Jaffurs, working out of the Central Coast Wine Warehouse in Santa Maria, produced his first wines during the 1994 harvest. During the 1999 harvest, production was 2500 cases including Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Viognier, and Roussanne. All our wines are carefully made in small lots. We are currently building our own small winery facility in the City of Santa Barbara. This modern, climate controlled facility will let us make wine at a more natural pace, and it is only seven minutes from home. We hope to be in our new place by August of 2001. Jaffurs Wine Cellars owns no vineyards. We purchase premium wine grapes from three Santa Barbara County vineyards: Thompson (Syrah), Bien Nacido (Viognier, Syrah), and Stolpman Family (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Viognier, and Roussanne) vineyards. The Melville Vineyard, located west of Buelton is our newest site. This is a cool vineyard which produces excellent fruit (Viognier and Syrah).
