Wine Emporium September October 2010 Newsletter
by Tom West
Hello Dear Friends,
Hey hey hey, September flew by so fast and furious we had to combine the September and October Newsletters. Don't know about you, but we've been busy as squirrels gathering nuts for winter. And this month we've got some choice nuts to share with you: Wusthoff knives, healthy household cleaning tips from Eco Girl, events, this month's tasting room menu, a new show and art opening in the gallery, a reminder it's time to ship your pack and stow wines, a different kind of flight, movies, and the wines of course.
Wusthof Cutlery: We are a Wusthof knife dealer, so if any of you are hankering to get some more cutlery, please check out their catalog at www.wusthof.com and get back to us. We'll make you a really good offer.
Eco Girl in the news: One of our local environmental authors, Patricia Dines published a wonderful new booklet, "Healthier Housecleaning" which you can purchase for six bucks at http://www.askecogirl.info/booklets.html . Patricia is the author of the STEP (Sebastopol Toxics Education Program) Newsletter which is sent along with our Sebastopol water bills every other month. You can read it here: http://www.ci.sebastopol.ca.us/toxicseducation.shtml .
Tom West Radio and TV appearances: Wednesday September 22, I was a guest on Cable Radio Network talking wine with Larry van Aalst. On October 16, I'll be appearing as an auctioneer on the KRCB TV Wine and Food auction.
Sebastopol Renaissance Faire: Kyle and Christina worked the wine tasting booth at the Sebastopol Renaissance Faire on Saturday September 18. Much Ado about Sebastopol filled a much needed Ren Faire vacuum and attracted 2500 visitors. Proceeds went to support the Sebastopol Educational Foundation.
The Tasting Room: We've found some fantastic wines over the last 30 days and we've put many of them on the tasting menu. Please check out the list and come on over for a much needed visit.

In the Gallery: On Monday September 13th we hung Joe Jaqua's new show. The paintings look really nice and will look even better on your walls. You are invited to attend the Artist's Reception and Masquerade Party on Friday October 15th from 5-8 pm! We'll have food, wine, live music from Miss Amber Lee Baker and most important of all, Joe will be here to meet and discuss his work with you.
Message from Pack and Stow Land: It's officially fall now! Please let us know when you want your pack and stow wine shipped to you. We are ready.
Flights of fancy: My friend Bim sent me this wonderful clip of his recent ultralight flight from Sebastopol to Bodega and Jenner and then back which I want to share with you.
Movies: A Good Year: Oscar winner Ridley Scott directs this adaptation of Peter Mayle's best-selling novel, following the romantic misadventures of an Englishman who inherits a vineyard from his uncle in Provence, France. When failed banker Max Skinner (Russell Crowe) moves abroad to accept what his late uncle (Albert Finney) left him, he meets a beautiful French woman (Marion Cotillard), along with an American (Abbie Cornish) who claims to be his long-lost cousin
Standing in the Shadows of Motown: Director Paul Justman's music-infused documentary is based on the true story of the Funk Brothers -- the anonymous backup group that from 1959 to 1972 provided the music for nearly every hit produced by Berry Gordy's famous Motown Records. Narrated by Andre Brauer, the action revolves around a reunion of the talented musicians who lent their instruments to a multitude of hits during that amazing 13-year period.
The Wines: We have been finding tremendous value across all price ranges. A number of our current star products are listed below and we encourage you to try them out! Thank you for honoring us with your continuing business. We look forward to serving you again this month!
All the best, Al, Carolyn, Micaela, and Tom / James
