Forman

Vintage 2008 continues a sequence of years at Forman, 2006 through 2010, which seem, each one, to rival the preceding. This is not all together because each successive vintage was climatologically superior to its predecessor. In fact, there were indeed some challenges such as heat spike period in 2006 and 2008 and some unusually lengthy cool periods in 2010 and 2011. Weather is never dependable so we have to prepare for the abnormalities and be able to smooth out the bumps (so to speak).

Wine Spectator

Tightly wound, firm, dense and concentrated, with a core of dark berry, plum, roasted herb, game meat, graphite, road tar and lead pencil, ending with chewy tannins. Should reward cellaring. Best from 2012 through 2022.

Score: 93. —James Laube, November 15, 2011.

Wine Advocate

One of the better values in high end Napa Cabernet, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Elegant Bordeaux-like aromas of berries, loamy soil, graphite, mocha, black currants and cedar are followed by a medium-bodied, stylish wine with excellent texture, underlying floral notes and a long finish. Nearly as French-like as Napa's Dominus wines, it should age effortlessly for 10-15 years.

Score: 91. —Robert Parker, December 2010.
